Yesterday I went to our public market as I do weekly with my younger son Jeremy, 36. We got a breakfast sandwich and coffee and just sat and talked liked a normal week but this turned a little different. He shared how giving up drinking (never was an issue), changing roles at his job, doing more reading about life (Jordan Peterson for one), choosing to put value into his health an living a better life. He has mentioned in the past that he does have a belief in God and has mentioned that he also has a belief in Jesus. He has also said that that belief in Jesus has grown stronger and that he feels he is closer than ever in accepting him into his heart and following him. We also discussed his introduction to church (didn't go to well), and that he knows he can have a relationship with Jesus without going to church, true. We then talked about the importance of Community and what that means in our own personal walks with Jesus. I came to Jesus in my 40's and have come to realize and accept that praying for both my sons to enter into a relationship will happen in Their own time and I hope through my example they will see what that life can be like. I am not a poster child for Jesus at times but my eyes are always on the goal of Being Christ Like and never backing away from that.
The long and short of it is, that time for Jeremy is very near and will continue to pray for that time. God is doing a good work in Him, it shows as he is a Godly Man but without that committed relationship. It was bringing tears to my eyes and some strong pulls on my heart during on conversation. I look forward to the day on acceptance and also for the Baptism that will follow. I have learned in life that it is not what we always do but what God is doing behind the scenes that make the difference in lives. Today I have a renewed Hope, never having lost Hope, in the works of God and as a father am blessed with the life I have today. I wear my Armor daily because I know during this time Satan will attack me and my family. But I walk with many Soldiers of God Today that are in this battle with me. Thanks for letting me share.
In Christ's Love,
Mark
The Holy Spirit made my eyes wet as I read this Mark. I know as a Dad myself, there is almost no other feeling that can compare to our sons/daughters accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. You are a good example to your sons brother.
Great story Mark. I see that your Armor of God Coin came from Greg in upstate NY. I and others will be praying for you and your Son. Give your Son the Armor of God Challenge, and if he needs a coin, send me a note and I’ll get some in the mail. God Bless as you encourage and pray for your Son and others. - Don 0001
